Which town earns the overnight?

Choose by the next morning’s destination. Port Angeles puts northern park drives and the Victoria ferry together; Forks is a base for repeat western outings; Sequim fits an eastern approach and local time around the Dungeness area. Lakefront and southern park stays are covered separately in the wider lodging-region guide.

01 · Compare your bases

Choose Port Angeles for the northern park

Port Angeles is our first pick for Hurricane Ridge, Lake Crescent, local tours and waterfront evenings. Downtown keeps restaurants and the ferry close; east-side motels offer a practical driving base.

Stay here for the northern park days. Add a western overnight when several rainforest and beach visits follow.

02 · Compare your bases

Choose Forks for repeated western outings

Forks earns its place when Hoh, Rialto and the Pacific beaches lead the itinerary. You cut the backtracking from Port Angeles and gain more time for a walk or tide-timed beach visit.

Move west for two or more coastal outings, or when your road trip continues south. Select the room around your group’s beds, meals and parking needs.

03 · Compare your bases

Choose Sequim for its place in your route

Choose Sequim for an eastern approach and time around the Dungeness area. It adds driving to Port Angeles tour departures and the northern mountain roads, so it suits a trip that includes Sequim itself.

For a first visit focused on Olympic’s northern highlights, book Port Angeles. For a Sequim-centered stay, compare the room and next morning’s drive together.

04 · Compare your bases

Use two bases for a fuller park visit

For three or four full days covering north and west, start in Port Angeles and add Forks. Our sample itineraries put the move after the lake or waterfall day.

Lake Crescent is the scenic overnight alternative between regions. Make one well-placed move to spend more of the trip outside.
