Choose a pool session or a waterfall walk

Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort has three mineral pools and a freshwater pool, with seasonal opening and 1.5-hour sessions. Reserve a soak through the official pool-session page and bring a towel. Pool admission is booked separately from park sightseeing tours.

For Sol Duc Falls, continue beyond the resort to the road-end trailhead. NPS lists 0.8 miles each way, or 1.6 miles round trip. Allow about 1 hour 15 minutes from Port Angeles to the valley, plus stops. Lake Crescent is on the approach.

02 · Waterfall & warm-water escape

Leave time for the forest approach

The forest path leads to bridge views above the falls, with uneven ground and plenty of places to pause. Make the waterfall your main walk for a relaxed outing with children or a mixed group.

Bring a picnic and enjoy the woodland on the return. Longer trails in the valley suit a dedicated hiking day with more time and preparation.

03 · Waterfall & warm-water escape

Use Lake Crescent as a natural route stop

Drive past Lake Crescent on the way into the Sol Duc Valley. A shoreline stop breaks up the journey, while a longer lake walk is best paired with just the waterfall or a pool session.

For a day focused on both the falls and pools, start in the valley and keep the afternoon there. Follow our itineraries to place the lake and a western overnight on adjacent days.

Choose your overnight and your season

Sleep in Port Angeles for dining, supplies and a morning drive west. Lake Crescent offers a scenic overnight along the approach; Forks suits the next stage toward rainforest and Pacific beaches. Use the seasonal road and resort calendar for spring, fall and winter trips.

For variety in one day, book the guided Sol Duc and Hurricane Ridge itinerary. It combines waterfall forest, Lake Crescent and mountain views, returning to Port Angeles afterward.
